Hodological Space
A project exploring the history of mark making, wayfinding and the diversity of methods humanity have devised for representing the spaces that we inhabit. Each tile is accompanied by an article. The aim isn't to create a compendium, but a reference point for a broader discussion around maps and the perspectives with which we aproach them.
The title derives from the Greek word "hodos" (ὁδός), meaning "way" or "path", although today associated with medical field, the initial meaning offers a more theoretical opportunity for engagement with the medium.
These early maps showcase that before standardisation different people and cultures created lucid representations of places and their function. This project aims to reconnect with this less prescriptive abddogmatic views of mapping.
